What New Year’s can teach you about family law

family law

Another year is down.  2015 is over.  2016 is here.  What can this teach you about divorce or family law litigation?

The reality is that everything passes.  If you are in the midst of a divorce or family law matter, it’s going to end at some point.  Time is a constant;  it cannot be stopped and life continues.  No matter where you are in your divorce or family law matter, it’s important to think past the present.  You want to think into the future.

At some point, your case will be over.  At some point, your kids will be grown.  And whatever the results of a child custody case are, your kids will be emancipated at some point and be adults.  No matter the results of a child support award, spousal maintenance or property division, life goes on and the years pass.

So, have hope that the future will bring better days.  Have the foresight to know that the actions and conduct you may take now may seem critically important (and they are in many ways).  But know that there is a future.

Know that life will change.  Have faith that everything in life happens for a reason.  And no matter the difficulties and uncertainties you face, they will all resolve themselves in time.
