Whitney completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Kansas, earning a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and Mass Communications. While there she was a member of the National Society of Collegiate scholars, and served two terms on the Executive Board of Sigma Delta Tau. She then attended Washburn University School of Law in Topeka, Kansas, where she earned her Juris Doctorate. She was a member of many organizations while in law school, including the Pro Bono Society, Women’s Legal Forum, and the Washburn Law Clinic. She is currently licensed to practice in the State of Kansas.
After graduating law school, Whitney Bolden began her career working as an attorney for the 24th Judicial Circuit in Farmington, Missouri. It was there that she prosecuted and litigated a variety of matters specific to the Juvenile Court system within the 24th Circuit, including juvenile criminal matters, child abuse and neglect, guardianship, and adoptions. She then moved on to a firm in Kansas, where she practiced across several areas including criminal defense, family law, and guardian ad litem cases. From there she joined the Sedgwick County Public Defenders Office in Wichita, where she handled primarily felony case assignments in the District Court. There she earned significant trial experience, attended probation violation hearings, and filed appeals. Her work required multiple daily court appearances, client interaction, and effective time management skills.
Outside of her law practice, Whitney enjoys playing disc golf and hiking new trails. She also has a pet hedgehog named Fluffy.
